Statistics: Expenditures, 85.5pct of household income, in Q1 2022

- The total monthly average income was, in nominal terms, 6227 lei per household and 2476 lei per person in Q I 2022.

- In Q I 2022, the total monthly average expenditure of the population was 5324 lei per household (2117 lei per person), accounting for 85.5% of the total income.

 

 The total expenditures of the population, in Q1, 2022, represented 85.5pct of the total income, with the smallest weight, almost inexistent, being for investments (only 0.2pct), show data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Friday.

According to the official statistics, the average monthly income stood at 6,227 lei per household (2,476 lei per person).

In the same context, in the first months of 2022, the average total monthly expenditure per household stood at 5,324 lei per household (2,117 lei/person) and accounted for 85.5pct of the total income. The money were mainly spent on: food, non-food stuffs, services, transfers to public and private administration and to the social security budget, in the form of taxes and contributions, membership fees, as well as needs related to household production (poultry and animal feed, work payment for household production, sowing products, veterinary services, etc.).

Expenditures for investments, intended for the purchase or construction of housing, the purchase of land and equipment necessary for the household production, the purchase of shares, etc. hold only 0.2pct of the total household expenditure.

The INS data shows that the money income accounted for 5,777 lei per month per household over January-March 2022 (2,297 lei per persons), while the income in kinds was estimated at 450 lei per household (179 lei per person).

Salaries and the other related income represented the most important source of income, 67.1pct of the total income of households.

Also, contributing to the total income of households were: the income from social activities (20.9pct), income in kind (7.2pct), countervalue of the consumption of agro-food stuffs from own sources (6pct), income from independent non-agricultural activities (1.6pct), income from agriculture (1.3pct), as well as income from property rights and the sale of assets from the households' patrimony (0.9pct).
