Study: More than half of small enterprises in Romania had no profit in 2018

Over half (55.4%) of companies in Romania with businesses between 50,000 and 250,000 euros recorded profit in 2018, according to a specialized study, released on Tuesday.

According to data centralized by Instant Factoring, of  525,000 companies analyzed more than half had profit (291,000). The difference is competed by losing companies – 35%, 184,000 and by those with zero net incomes (10%- 51,000 companies).

At 2018 level, the net result of small companies was 16.6 billion lei in 2018, while the most performing sectors  were professional activities with 23%of total, constructions (10.6%) and IT&C (9%).

At the same time, companies with business figures between 50,000 and 250,000 euros had the best net result of 9.7 billion lei, that is 58% of total.

At the opposite pole, companies with zero business figure recorded a net negative result of 1.9 billion lei in 2018.

The gross result of small companies was 18.3 billion lei at the end of 2018. 57% of the gross result was generated by companies with business figure between 250,000 and 500,000 euros, with a share of 37% and by companies with business figure of 50,000 euros, representing 6% of total.

According to the source, companies with business figure lower and equal to zero recorded a gross loss of 1.9 billion lei.
