Survey: 45% of Romanians will change jobs after pandemic

The first thing 45% of Romanians will do after pandemic is to change their jobs. IT specialists are the most confident in finding available positions, followed by specialists and trained workers, according to an opinion poll made by an online recruiting website.

According to eJobs Romania, 14.5% of respondents do not plan any changes, 11% want to follow a professional re-conversion process, and 9% consider leaving the country.

6.5% of people interviewed say they want to open a business once the economy recovers, while 5% consider asking for a salary raise.

Asked about the professional categories which will find jobs at the end of the pandemic, 23% of participants said specialists ranked first, and 21% think IT specialists have the biggest chances, and 15% mention trained workers. Young people without experience follow (14%), untrained workers (12.55%) and candidates aged over 45 (7.4%).

According to centralized data, freelancers (4.3%) and managers (2.8%) rank last.

In this context, over half of Romanians (52%) consider now is the best time to get a job or change their job, while 20% think  that this summer will be the best time for such a change, 12% think autumn is the best time and 10% estimate that in 2022 the labor market will recover.

The main reason for which most candidates would change now their employers is a higher salary, mentioned by 31% of respondents. 17% would leave for better opportunities, 12% would move to a more stable company and 11% would leave if they found a job in another field. 

6.1% of people interviewed declared they would give up their present job if they could leave for another country and others would resign for a an extra-salary benefit package better than the present one.

The eJobs survey was made over April-May 2021 on a sample of 700 respondents.

At present over 28,000 jobs for Romania and abroad are available on eJobs platform which registers between 1.1 and 1.5 million applications every month.
