THE AVERAGE LABOUR COST IN 2015 WAS 3189 LEI/EMPLOYEE

The average monthly gross earnings by total economy in 2015 (2555 lei) was by 9.8% (+227 lei) more than the one registered in 2014. The average monthly net earnings by total economy (1859 lei) increased by 9.5% (+162 lei) as against the previous year.

Monthly, employers spent an average of 3189 lei/employee. ? The average number of employees in 2015 was 4611.4 thousand persons, increasing with 103.7 thousand persons compared to the previous year.

The number of employees at December 31st 2015 was 5041.2 thousand persons, higher with 140.5 thousand persons compared to the end of the previous year.
The average net monthly earnings recorded in the national economy level was 1,859 RON, increasing by 9.5 percent (+ 162 RON) compared to the previous year, women earning by almost 7 percent less than men, points out a National Institute of Statistics's (INS) press release sent on Monday.
The highest average net monthly earnings, which are superior to the national economy average, were recorded in 2015 in financial intermediations and insurance (2.2 times), in information and communications (almost 2.1 times), in extractive industry by 85.8 percent, in production and supply of electrical and thermic energy, gas and air conditioning by 65.5 percent, in public administration by 55.6 percent, in professional, scientific and technical activities by 47.8 percent. The average net monthly earnings that were situated at the highest distance under the average of economy were: in hotels and restaurants (-41.9 percent), other services activities (-30.2 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing (-26.3 percent), event, cultural and recreation activities (-23.5 percent), constructions (-23.5 percent), administration and support services activities (-23.2 percent), real estate transaction (-18.5 percent), water supply, sewerage, waste management and decontamination activities (-15.3 percent), trade (-14.6 percent), health and social assistance (-10.9 percent), manufacturing industry (-8.3 percent)," the release reveals.
According to the release in 2015 the real earning index (expressed as a balance between the net nominal earning and the population consumer price index) was 144.6 percent compared to 1990, revealing an increase by 13.4 percentage points compared to the previous year, respectively by 14.3 percentage points compared to 2008.
"The monthly average cost of workforce in 2015 stood at 3,189 RON per employee, growing by 6.7 percent compared to the previous year," the release states.
The INS mentions that in 2015 the average number of employees stood at over 4.611 million persons, increasing in comparison to the previous year by 103,700 persons.
The number of employees at the end of 2015 was over 5 million persons. Compared to the end of 2014, the number of employees recorded a growth by 140,500 persons.
The number of employees in the private companies hit the majority at the end of 2015 (75.1 percent) and recorded a growth by 4.2 percent compared to the previous year. The employees distribution by the legal form of the companies they work for, reveals that the workers employed in commercial companies represented 78.7 percent of the total number of employees, up by 3.7 percent compared to the previous year.
