The European Commission criticises the breakdown of the VAT payment system in Romania: this should be annulled
The breakdown of the VAT payment system should be annulled,as it had no positive effect and Romania is criticised by the European Commision for this, stated on Friday Dan Manolescu the chairman of the Chamber of Fiscal Consultants in the conference ‘ Autumn tax update forum’.
‘As far as I know, there is a number of letters, correspondence between the European Commission and the authorities in Romania through which the Commission required a series of details. It seems that, as they understand the things, it is not ok with the system we use. We expect something concrete to be done, to start an infringement or to do something in this sense’ Manolescu said.
He showed that an analysis was not made at the level of the authorities to see which were the benefits of this system.
‘Personally I did not hear anybody who have something to gain. To lose, I have heard, but it is good. Someboy must force an annulment but in this situation the Commission is the only to do it, in a context where the parliamentary majority is the same, and I don’t think that a decision of annulment could come from the government’ Manolescu said,at the conference organised by BusinessMark and PKF Finconta.
Starting 1 March, it is compulsory the breakdown of the VAT payment for the companies which are in insolvency and for which they have debts to the VAT payment in a certain ceiling.
