The government decision regarding vaccination against COVID-19 has been adopted
The government decision regarding the strategy for vaccination against the new corona virus was adopted in the meeting of the government on Friday, the respective document presenting which are the priority groups – employees in the domain of health, social assistance, those in the risk category in ‘ key domains’, stated the head of the premier chancellery, Ionel Danca, on Saturday in a press briefing.
‘At present we are involved (…) together with the other member states of the European Union in preparing the vaccination campaign of the population against the virus SARS-CoV-2’ he stated.
He mentioned that the document prepares the vaccination campaign, once one vaccine is available.
‘According to this vaccination strategy, there were established the priority groups: ‘the personnel in the health domain, the personnel in residential and medical-social centres,the population with high risk of severe evolution in case of infections with SARS-CoV-2 and the personnel in other key domains, essential for the good functioning of the society’ Danca said.
According to him, the people in these categories will be vaccinated first and then vaccination will be available for the whole population.
‘Estimate is that, at present, 70% of the total of the population could be involved in this vaccination campaign’ Danca said.
At the same time, he mentioned that vaccination is ‘free of charge and voluntary’.
Similarly, Danca presented an appeal of the government in this context.
‘The government of Romania, led by prime-minister Ludovic Orban makes an appeal to all institutions involved as well to the civil society, to specialists, in the public debate, to support this vaccination campaign as this is the only remedy to put an end to the epidemics of Covid-19. Any politicisation of this topic must be avoided as the life and health of the Romanians are at stake and we call all specialists in the domain to join us in this vaccination campaign’ the head of the chancellery said.
According to a press release of the ministry of health (MS) the Strategy for vaccination was established by the National Committee for coordination of activities regarding vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, interministerial body under direct supervision of the General Secretariat of the government and the coordination of the prime-minister.
The document establishes the vision, the principles and the action mode for the administration in Romania of the anti-Covid-19 vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency and relies both on the analysis of the situation at national and European level of the way the SARS-CoV-19 has spread and the mortality generated by Covid-19, says MS.
The strategy proposes, as general objectives, the creation of an environment favourable to vaccination as efficient policy for the prevention of Covid-19 at the level of the Romanian population as well as the creation of the conditions for anti-Covid-19 vaccination at the level of the population as part of the vaccination national programme.
‘Our purpose is to ensure access to vaccination against SARS-CoV02 in complete safety, efficiency and equity to prevent infection with SARS-CoV-2 and to limit the pandemics of Covid-19 in the country’ Nelu Tataru, the minister of health said.
The strategy establishes the whole process and vaccination against SARS-Covid-19 chain, from general principles to vaccination organisation, vaccines storage, the low temperature chain, safety and efficiency monitoring and waste management.It proposes general lines at the basis of the communication strategy in the vaccination against SARS-Cov-2 campaign in Romania, added MS.
