‘I consider that it is very important and this is our policy, I think that the policy here says that the Republic of Moldova should stay a sovereign and independent state within their safe borders. The union with Romania, for example, as a way to enter the EU or any other reason, is not a practical choice and it isnot a choice which make things better here in the Republic of Moldova. What would make things better here in the Republic of Moldova is cooperation between the political class and the people so that they contribute to make the Republic of Moldova a better country for its people’ James Pettit says.
‘ The Republic of Moldova is not Romania. The Republic of Moldova has its own history and its own challenges. Among the challenges are the fact that the Republic of Moldova is a multi-ethnic country with people who speak different languages and that is also the Transnidster issue which is not under the control of the government but which needs a special status which is the final purpose but a special status within the Republic of Moldova. The potential here is very big, you have a qualified and hardworking people, there are many promises in certain sectors besides agriculture and this includes the textile and IT sectors’.
