The unemployment rate at national level at end-September was 4.77pct, by 0.03pct smaller than in August 2016 and 0.11pct down from September 2015, according to data released by the National Unemployment Agency (ANOFM).
The local unemployment agencies' records show as many as 418,228 unemployed, of whom 81,243 were receiving unemployment benefit.
Compared with the previous month, both the male and the female unemployment rates declined to 5.11pct, and 4.35pct, respectively. Depending on the place of their residence, 123,151 unemployed were from the urban area and 297,077 from the countryside.
Most of the unemployed were aged 40 - 49 years (115,113 persons), followed by the ones aged 30 - 39 (83,708); at the opposite end were the unemployed aged between 25 - 29 years (33,147).
The uneducated unemployed and those with primary, secondary and vocational education had largest share in total unemployed registered with ANOFM (79.20pct), while the unemployed with high school and post high school education level were 16.70pct, while the ones with university education parked at 4.10pct.
In September 2016, as many as 23 counties and Bucharest City reported cuts in the unemployment rate, the highest being recorded in Ialomita (0.40 pct), Alba (0.31 pct), Caras-Severin (0.28 pct), Vrancea (0.27 pct), Giurgiu (0.24 pct), Mehedinti (0.24 pct), Teleorman (0.22 pct) and Covasna (0.18 pct).
The highest levels were recorded in the counties of Teleorman (11.76pct, Vaslui (11.55pct), Buzau (10.18pct), Mehedinti (9.53pct), Dolj (9.50pct), Galati (9.35pct), Olt (8.34pct), Calarasi (7.31pct), Ialomita (6.89pct) and Dambovita (6.83pct).
Although up from the previous month, unemployment in the county of Ilfov continued to be the smallest, at 1.11pct.
