Union of employers’ association, about the amendment of the fiscal code: we hope the government will change their position

The Chairman of the national union of Romanian employers’association |oan Lucian stated on Saturday in Odorheiu Secuiesc that the signals from the country show that the amendment of the fiscal code will affect the private companies, and after the deep analyses, there will be attempts to change the position of the government, one of the forms of opposition being a fiscal strike.

‘At this hour the signals in the country show that this ordnance will affect negatively, it is a certain thing. And we should analyse and will analyse very carefully if it is true or not, relying on our specialists, and then, if the things stay like this, surely we will join the other employers’ conferderations which have already taken attitude and we will try , as we have decided, we will try to have the Romanian government to change his position and have the desire to collaborate with us’ stated for the press Ioan Lucian, at the meeting of the National College of UNPR in Odorheiu Secuiesc.

He pointed to the fact that he proposed the way of dialogue and there is hope that, if the effects are clearly negative, the government will come back on these decisions.

‘If the effects are clearly negative, we would be happy to go back on these decisions as , I say again, the business environment in Romania is oppressed (…) But the business environment in Romania has no predictability, we have no stability as regards the legislative framework, there are things to mend. We have proposed the way of dialogue, of discussions, on counterproposals, we prepare a set of counterproposals to what happended in connection to the decision of the government (…) We have to see with seriosity this decision as there are companies, members of our association, with hundreds, thousands of employees who could not play with their lives. (…_). That is why we require a profound analysis  and we should have a profound analysis and profound  collaboration between the government and the employers’ associations’ he said.

Asked what concrete actions could be  organised, if the ordnance stayed as such, Ioan Lucian said that the importance of the coagulation of the employers’ movement in Romanian  which should adopt a unitary position but he spoke about some forms of opposition such as the fiscal strike.

He added that in the developed countries the decision on amendments of the fiscal code was taken after negotiations which lasted even five years, following which each part wasted their arguments.

Present at the meeting of the National College  of the UNPR Directorate Calin Silas, the general manager and administrator of one company in Timisoara with over 100 employees stated that a decision to amend the fiscal code should be prepared in advance and that at that moment the employees become vulnerable.

When referring to the fact that there are rumours about the fact that some companies would go abroad, following the adoption of the amendments to the fiscal code, he said that it is too early to have such statements and for the moment there are calculations on the impact which such a measure will take.

The National College of the UNPR Directorate analyses  the mocks made by the specialistis and in some days there will have an official position  which refers to the amendment of the fiscal code.

The National Union of the Romanian Employers’ Association gathers 1,200 companies with 140,000 employees.
