Vasile Dincu's video conference with defense ministers from Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine on security situation in Black Sea area

Defense minister Vasile Dincu discussed with his counterparts of Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine at a video conference on Wednesday, on the security situation in the Black Sea area. He mentioned that Romania considers the use of diplomacy as a solution, still valid, for the solution of the conflict.

 

According to the Defense Ministry, Vasile Dincu participated, on Wednesday, in a video conference organized by Turkey at ministerial level, next to hos counterparts of Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine, with a view to discussing the security situation in the Black Sea area.

 

The Romanian official presented recent evaluations about the security situation generated by the brutal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, an action that led to the increase of threats in the Black Sea, including the restriction of the freedom of navigation and the appearance of dangers generated by floating sea mines. Minister Dincu condemned in harsh terms the atrocities in Bucha and other Ukrainian towns, mentioning that the deliberate killing of civilians goes beyond any war rules,”the source showed.

 

Vasile Dincu mentioned that Romania considers the use of diplomacy as a still valid solution for the solution of conflicts and thanked Turkey for its substantial involvement in the process of the peace negotiations. At the same time Dincu reiterated Romania's support for the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and demanded the immediate and unconditional retreat of Russian troops.

 

Also, the defense minister showed that Romania remains firmly engaged in offering humanitarian support to Ukraine by managing the refugee flow and by actions carried out at the humanitarian hub in Suceava.
