Bucharest’s airports see 17% increase in passenger traffic
Bucharest’s Henri Coanda and Aurel Vlaicu international airports recorded a 16.8% increase in the total number of passengers transiting them last year, to 12.84 million, the Bucharest Airports Company announced last Wednesday, romania-insider.com informs.
The number of landings and takeoffs at the two airports reached 130,000, up by 7.7% compared to 2016.
The higher traffic and improved financial results were due to the efforts to draw more airlines and increase the number of routes and the flight frequency on existing routes, according to the company’s general manager Bogdan Mindrescu.
The Bucharest Airports Company reached revenues of RON 1.08 billion (EUR 236 million) in 2017, up by 8.3% compared to 2016. Its gross profit went up 45%, to RON 390 million (EUR 85 million). The company is controlled by the Transport Ministry and Fondul Proprietatea.
