The number of new vehicles registrations for passenger transportation increased in Q1 of 2017 by 73 percent compared to the same period of last year, cars recording the most significant jump, namely almost three quarters (74.4 percent), the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Friday reveal.
According to the quoted source, in the interval between January and March, new vehicles registration for freight transport recorded a growth by 17.9 percent up to 26,808 units. Moreover, the trucks category recorded an increase of new registrations of up to 16,850 units in Q1 of 2017, from 14,923 units in the similar period of 2016. On the other hand, the categories of trailers, semi-trailers and tractors recorded declines of 17.2 percent, 8.7 percent respectively.
The INS data reveal that in the analyzed period, the number of new cars registrations increased in all categories, the most significant increase being in the cars category, namely by 74.4 percent (150,397 units).
In respect to Q1 of 2017 compared to Q1 of 2016, new vehicles registrations for freight transport increased by 3.6 percent, and registrations of cars increased by 47.6 percent. Moreover, new vehicles registrations for freight transport increased by 7.4 percent.
