Europeans don’t spend a lot of time searching for a home and, on average, view seven properties before making a decision, according to a study conducted in European countries by RE/MAX Europe, world leader in real-estate and the most successful franchise on this segment.
The study conducted by this company shows that 68% of Europeans look for a property for about two months before purchasing one. 10% of them find the house of their dreams in just a week, while over 16% of them find it in 2 weeks.
Portugal ranks first when it comes to countries where you can find a house the fastest. There, about 40% of the people that are searching for a property find it in no more than a week. The opposite can be found among the Austrians and Dutch, 40% of people searching for a property having to look for more than six months before finding it.
“In Romania, the situation is similar to the average recorded in Europe. Here people search for a house for about 2-3 months and the process is much easier lately as more and more new properties appear on the market”, said Razvan Cuc, president of RE/MAX Romania.
The study conducted by the company also showed that, in general, men are faster and more determined while women assign longer periods of time when it comes to making a decision about purchasing a property.
More over, the RE/MAX Europe analysis reveals that, on average, Europeans view seven properties before deciding which one is the most suited for them. There are some exceptions – 4% of Europeans take into acount even 20 houses before choosing the right one for them.
The Turks and the Brits are the most demanding Europeans. They view about 10 houses before choosing one, while the Germans and the Italians view nine properties. The Polish and the Spanish rank after them with 8 viewed properties, their situation being similar to the one in Romania. In Finland, only 4 houses are views before people make a decision and purchase one.
RE/MAX Europe conducted this study on 8.000 participants from 16 European countries including Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Holland.
