€2 billion of renewable generation capacity schemes approved
In the committee for investments were approved schemes of approximately two billion euro for new production capacities from renewable sources, announced on Thursday Dan Dragan, state secretary in the ministry of energy.
‘ I can mention that, at present, in the investment committee there were approved schemes of almost two billion euro for new production capacities from renewable sources, which will be divided equally in four segments. There will be a scheme for public authorities of approximately 500 million euro, a scheme for judicial people, consumers-prosumers of approximately 500 million euro, a scheme for independent producers of 500 million euro and scheme for prosumers who activate in agriculture, to be run together with the ministry of agriculture, of 500 million euro. At the same time, I have to mention that through the Fund for modernization the plan for restructuring of the Oltenia Energy Unit will be aided, which means a capacity of minimum 730 MW in the solar domain’ Dan Dragan said, at the 2nd Solar Energy Bucharest Summit.
He referred to the contracts for difference and mentioned that the first public debate took place some time ago and in a maximum of two months the institution is expected to put into public debate the final form of the primary legislation and the mechanism for contracts for difference.
"With these contracts for the difference, we have committed through the Recovery and Resilience Plan to a first tender at the end of this year and the next one in 2024. Through the first two auctions we are aiming to achieve minimum capacities of around two gigawatts in the first auction and three gigawatts to four gigawatts, depending on market appetite, for these contracts through this contracts for difference mechanism. Where does the funding for these come from? The first funding for the clearing house will be through the Modernisation Fund and I can inform you that we have already pre-notified to the European Commission our intention for this contracts for difference scheme and their funding mechanism in the first phase," Dan Dragan added.
