Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 is disconnected from grid for 30 days

Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN], the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, said on Friday that one of the plant's two units to be disconnected from the grid on the night of May 2 as part of scheduled inspection and maintenance works, seenews.com reports.

The duration of the planned outage is approximately 30 days, in compliance with the preventive and corrective maintenance works that need to be performed during this period, the company said in a statement on Friday.

The works related to the planned outage of Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 will be performed under nuclear safety conditions for the personnel of the power plant, the public and the environment, as per the procedures used at Cernavoda NPP, Nuclearelectrica added.

In March, the plant's both units were automatically disconnected from the grid due to technical failures.

Nuclearelectrica shares traded 1.10% lower at 8.12 lei by 1507 CET on Friday on the Bucharest bourse.

The energy ministry holds a 82.49% stake in Nuclearelectrica.
