CNP: Romania's natural gas production will increase in the next three years
Romania's natural gas production will increase steadily in the next three years, up to 9 million tons of oil equivalent (toe) in 2020, while imports will steadily decrease, to 700,000 toe also in 2020, shows the Prognosis of the energy mix published recently by the National Prognosis Commission (CNP).
Thus, gas production will go up from 7.48 million toe in 2016 to 7.8 million toe in 2017 (+4.2 pct) to 8.2 million toe in 2018 (+5.1 pct), 8.6 million toe in 2019 (+4.9 pct), and 9 million toe until 2020 (+4.7 pct).
Last year, the natural gas production of Romania dropped by 15.6 percent.
This year, Romania will will import 1 million toe of natural gas, a 15.6 percent decrease as compared to 2016, while in 2018 the reduction of imports will be even more poignant, of 30 pct, to stand at 700,000 toe.
Romania's energy resources will reach in 2017 the figure of 41,64 million toe, an increase by 0.6% as compared to last year, according to the document published by the CNP.
Of the total energy resources, 40.4 million toe are primary energy resources, of which 24.61 million toe represent production, 12.75 million toe - imports, and 3.07 million toe are stocks at the year's start. Furthermore, 1.2 million toe are the energy stocks in transformation.
The largest part of these resources, namely 31.1 million toe, will go towards the internal consumption of the country, while 6.26 million toe will represent exports.
Of the total internal consumption, 3.09 million toe are consumption in the energy sector, 1.05 million toe will go to losses, while 24.32 million toe are available for final consumption.
For the next two years, energy resources will grow, ultimately reaching 44,01 million toe in 2020.
