EC: the gas production of the EU, 19% lower than in Q1; Romania extracted 10% less
The gas production of the European Union dropped by 19% in Q1 of this year, and the extracted quantity in Romania, the second large producer, diminished by 10% according to a report of the General Direction for Energy in the European Commission.
Thus, the total production of the EU got to 30.5 billion cubic metres, against 37.7 billion cubic metres at half year last year.
The Netherlands, the biggest gas producer in the community space, extracted 14 billion cubic metres, less by 25% against the similar period of 2019, when they produced 18.7 billion cubic metres.
Placed second, Romania had a production of 4.6 billion cubic metres, 10 percent less than in Q1, 5.1 billion cubic metres respectively.
Placed third, Germany extracted 2.6 billion cubic metres, against 3 billion in the first half of 2019.
As regards the second quarter, the total gas production of the EU was 15 billion cubic metres dropping by 14%.
‘Production in Q2 dropped in all gas producing countries, including the Netherlands (-16%), and Romania (-17%)’ the authors of the report say.
In Q2, the Netherlands produced 6.8 billion cubic metres and Romania extracted 2 billion being followed by Germany (1.3 billion) and Italy ( one billion).
