EDP Renewables wants to implement 20 GW new capacities with supplementary capital investment worth 19 billion euro
Renewables, the fourth biggest renewable energy producer in the world, with projects of renewable energy in Romania, announced on Wednesday that they implement a new operating model. As part of their business plan for 2021 – 2025, EDPR means to implement 20 GW new capacity, with supplementary capital investment of 19 billion euro and an organization of 3,000 employees.
‘This includes the extension of the market at global level, including through acquisition of Sunseap which will allow the group to extend its geographic presence on 26 markets. Similarly, the new operating model includes the growth of the share of the solar energy and other new technologies production, such as storage of energy and green hydrogen’ the company announces.
The operating model will organise EDPR over three regions: Europe- Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific, followed by integrated approach of the global functions as centres of excellence such as Acquisitions, Investments and Technical Engineering, where the company may put to value its global footprint to support its competitive advantage. Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade (CEO) and Rui Teixeira (CFO) will work with the people nominated as COO for the three regions, Duarte Bello, leader in Europe and Latin America, Pedro Vasconcelor, leader in the Asia-Pacific region, Sandhya Ganapathy, leader in North America, as well as together with Bautista Rodriguez, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and in charge with the offshore business through JV Ocean Winds of EDPR.
By means of the new organisational structure and the nominations in the management team, the company consolidates its basic regions to stimulate growth, and to strengthen its position as a leader on these markets.
EDPR accelerated its growth in 2021 by adding 2.5 GW of new capacities over the first nine months, getting the installed aggregated capacity to 13 GW.
