End electricity consumption, up 5.2% in first four months

The end electricity consumption in the first four months of 2021 was 18.817 billion kWh, 5.2% higher than the corresponding period last year, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics .

Public lighting decreased by 4.4% and household consumption increased by 10.3%.

Electricity exports were 2.159 billion kWh, up 183.5 million kWh, while own technological consumption in networks and stations was 2.299 billion kWh, up 169.3 million kWh.

The main primary energy resources in the period January 1 - April 30, 2021 totaled 11.231 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), increasing by 540,700 toe compared to the period January 1 - April 30, 2020.

Domestic production amounted to 6.325 million toe, down 54,500 toe from the same period last year, and import was 4.905 million toe.

During this period, the electricity resources were of 23.276 billion kWh, increasing by 1.285 billion kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2020.

Production from thermal power plants was 7.729 billion kWh, up 469.7 million kWh (+ 6.5%). Production in hydropower plants was 6.117 billion kWh, up 1.604 billion kWh (+ 35.1%), and that in nuclear power plants was 3.891 billion kWh, down 209.1 million kWh (-5.1%).

Production from wind power plants between January 1 and April 30, 2021 was 2.442 billion kWh, down 495.7 million kWh compared to the same period last year, and solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was 462,3 million kWh, decreasing by 86.2 million kWh compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
