Gas imports increased by 251,1% in the first four months: production increased by 2.3%
Romania imported between January – April 2017 a quantity of natural gas of 542,100 tons equivalent petrol (tep) with 251.1% (387.700 tep) more than the similar period of 2016, according to the centralised data of the National Institute for Statistics (INS).
The domestic production of natural gas was, in the first four months of this year, 2.78 million tep, with 2.3% (63.500 tep) over that of the same period of 2016.
According to the project of the Energy Strategy of Romania, published on the site of the ministry, the annual production of natural gas is expected to drop slightly, down to an average of 9-10 billion cubic metres for the period of 2016 – 2030.
The document mentions that the production of natural gas will drop after they reach a new peak of 132 TWh in 2025 as a result of the production in the Black Sea, at 96 TWh in 2030 and 65 TWh in 2050.
The scenarios of low price include a drop towards zero of the production of gas starting with 2045.
