Energy independence is the goal Romania seeks to achieve, Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu said on Wednesday, pointing out that, at the shortest time possible, the investments at Cernavoda power plant Units 3 and 4 will be initiated.
He paid a visit to the Pitesti Nuclear Research Institute on Wednesday.
"Energy independence is the goal Romania seeks to achieve, and the Government I am heading will provide support to all sustainable electricity producers. That is why, I want us to initiate - and we have several talks with Minister Valeca on this topic - , at the shortest time possible, the investments at Cernavoda Units 3 and 4, where the institute can also deliver equipment, services, installation technical assistance, same as in the case of Units 1 and 2," Grindeanu said.
The head of the Executive noted the fact that TRIGA experimental reactor is perfectly functional and generates, besides nuclear security and scientific benefits, 14 MWh electricity.
