Romania- Hungary analyse a cooperation in the natural gas, oil and electricity industries
Energy, SMEs and Business Minister Andrei Gerea discussed on Tuesday with Hungarian ambassador Botond Zakonyi the bilateral cooperation in the natural gas, oil and electricity industries - including nuclear, and issues of the small and medium enterprises.
'Hungary is an important economic partner of Romania, and as the two states are members of the European Union, close cooperation is mandatory on the connection of electricity and natural gas to the European infrastructure,' Gerea mentioned.
The two officials agreed to analyse the possibility of meetings, some time near the end of the year, of taskforces for energy and SME cooperation, in the perspective of the 7th session of the Romanian-Hungarian joint intergovernmental committee for economic cooperation, to be hosted by Romania during the fourth quarter of 2015.
Hungary is Romania's third commercial partner in terms of bilateral trade, and the fourth market for Romanian goods; it ranks third among Romania's suppliers of goods and second in terms of trade balance deficit, a release of the Ministry of Energy to AGERPRES pointed out on Tuesday.
At the end of 2014, there were 12,652 Hungarian companies registered in Romania, which places Hungary fourth, next to Italy, Germany and Turkey; Hungarian investments in Romania amounted to736 million euros, 13th (with 1.96 percent) among the foreign investment sources.
