The state collected this January over 19.2 ml euro from trades in greenhouse gas allowances for fixed installations performed on the EU dedicated common auction platform, the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) announced on its website.
According to the cited source, 3.7 ml fixed installation allowances have been traded. In 2016 the state cashed 195 ml euro from such trades, a figure that also includes aviation.
According to MFP data, the EU emission trading scheme - EU ETS was applied in the first phase over the period January 1, 2005 - December 31, 2007 and the second phase of the scheme runs between 2008 - 2012, in reference to the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
Romania has been participating in the EU emission trading scheme beginning with date of its EU accession (January 1, 2007).
The third phase of the EU ETS scheme spans 8 years between January 1, 2013 - December 31, 2020.
