The state wants to bring the CEZ RWE, Iberdrola and GDF Suez companies back to the project for reactors 3 and 4 in Cernavoda
The state wants to recall in the construction project for reactors 3 and 4 for the unit in Cernavoda the companies CEZ, RWE, Iberdrola and GDF Suez who withdrew at the end of 2010 – beginning of 2011, according to the state secretary in the ministry of economy Rodin Traicu. “By the end of the year will have the answer from these companies and the format of the project” Traicu stated at a seminar on energy.
Dissatisfied with the evolution of the discussions CEZ ( the Czeck Republic), RWE (Germany), Iberdrola (Spain) and GDF Suez (France-Belgium group) gave up the investments, so that the ministry of economy, through Nuclearelectrica got to own 80% of the project company at the moment. At present, the company is made up of Enel (Italy) and ArcelorMittal Romania.
The state secretary said that the state is willing to bring the four companies back in the project ‘under any form, in any percentage’.Traicu added that the Romanian state is sure to manage to bring back the four companies in the project as Romania will be an exporter of electricity in the region. At the same time, Enel and ArcelorMittal promised to the government that they will stay in the project for at least one more year, Traicu said.
The project for the construction of nuclear reactors 3 and 4 was started in 2007 and the works were estimated to start in 2010. After the withdrawal from the project of the four companies, the works stopped, as the government could not get other partners in the project.
