ASF: Overall transaction value on BVB and SMT markets reached 12.69 billion lei in first 9 months of 2020
The total transaction value on BVB and SMT markets reached 12.69 billion lei in the first 9 months of 2020, on the rise by 56.27% compared to the same period of 2019, while the number of transactions made at BVB grew by 69.14% in the reference period, according to data released on Thursday by the Authority of Fiscal Supervision (ASF).
On September 30, 2020, stock exchange capitalization reached 134.6 billion lei, on the drop by 26% compared to the end of 2019.
However, all Romanian stock exchange indexes recorded negative evolutions, corrections being over 6% in the first 9 months of 2020, compared to the end of 2019, before the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic crisis. The BET reference index for the local stock market, which shows evolutions of companies with most transactions with BVB, had a drop of 9,7% on September 30, 2020, compared to the end of the 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2020, the value of state bonds transactions grew against the same period of 2019, recording about 1.25 billion lei. Shares remain the class dominated by financial bonds with a share of 77.73% of the value in transaction at BVB in the first 9 months of 2020.
At the end of September 2020 there were 27 intermediaries in the BVB market, of which 16 Service and Financial Investment Companies (SSIF), 4 local credit institutions and 7 entities authorized in other EU member states. At SMT there were 20 intermediaries at the end of September 2020, of which 15 SSIF companies, 4 local credit institutions and an investment company authorized in another EU member state.
The most active intermediaries at BVB were SSIFs, the values intermediated by them being 16 billion lei. Local intermediaries made about 83% of the overall value.
On September 30, 2020 there were 18 investment management companies (SAI), 83 open investment funds (FDI), 26 closed investment funds, 5 financial investment companies, Property Fund and 4 deposit companies.
The number of investors in closed investment funds is lower than that of FDI investors. At the end of September, the number of FDI investors dropped compared to the end of 2019 by 9,509 investors, while the number of closed investors was 88,600 (most of them natural persons).
The total value of shares of collective placement bodies (OPC) in Romania was 39.49 billion lei in September 2020, on the rise by 2% compared to the previous quarter. An analysis shows that overall stock of open investment funds dropped by 18% against the end of 2019. Closed investment funds and financial investment companies recorded a 10% drop compared to the end of 2019.
At the end of September 2020, net cumulated SIF stock recoedd a 10% drop while the total value of net shares administered by Property Fund was 9.91 billion lei, on the drop by 17% and were concentrated mostly in Romania.
