BNR: Companies' and households' outstanding debts to banks declined by 32.7 percent from April 2016
Companies' and households' outstanding debts to banks declined by 32.7 percent from April 2016 up to the same month of 2017, to 13.21 billion lei, data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR) reveals.
From this amount, 6.08 billion lei were in the national currency and 7.13 billion lei in foreign exchange currency. Bucharest recorded 32.5 percent of the overall debts.
The overall value of loans granted to companies and households stood at 225.7 billion lei, increasing by almost 3 percent compared to the level in April 2016. Most of the value was in lei currency, over 3.05 billion lei respectively.
At the end of May, a number of 674,125 individuals have over 30-day outstanding debts to banks and non-banking financial institutions worth over 8 billion lei. Most part of the amount was in euro, namely 3.05 billion lei.
The rate of non-performing loans stood at 9.58 percent at the end of February.
