Romania Central Bank steps in to support leu - dealers

Romania's central bank has stepped in indirectly on the spot foreign exchange market, selling euros via local banks on Friday to stem the leu's fall , three dealers said. "Speculators brought EURRON from 4.33 yesterday evening to 4.3750 to test the central bank, and the central bank sold around 4.3700, 4.3650, 4.3600," one dealer said. By 1240 GMT the leu was trading 0.2 percent lower on the day at 4.351 per euro, having earlier hit a 15-month low of 4.3725. ...
