Average monthly pension higher by 4.8% in quarter 3, 2014

The average monthly pension was 847 lei in quarter III, 2014, on the rise by 4.8% compared to the previous year and by 0.1% against quarter 2, 2014, when the average number of pensioners dropped to 5.35 millions, according to INS data released on Tuesday.

The average social security pension was 845 lei in quarter 3, 2014, with territorial differences, the difference between the highest and lowest pension exceeding 350 lei (677 lei in Giurgiu and 1,068 in Bucharest).

In quarter 3, the average number of pensioners was 5.350 million persons, on the drop by 63,000 persons compared to 2013 and by 7,000 persons against quarter 2, 2014.

The index of real average pension in quarter 3, calculated as ratio between nominal pension index and consumer price index was 100.3%.
