CAROM CASE: Tender sentenced to 11 years 4 months in jail and Marian Iancu 13 years 8 months

Bucharest court sentenced Ovidiu Tender to 11 years 4 months in jail and Marian Iancu to 13 years 8 months in the Carom case, where they were accused of money laundering. The decision can be contested at Bucharest Court of Appeal.

 

Tender and Iancu were accused in 2006 by former head of DIICOT Alina Bica who in her turn was accused in the case of compensations granted for over evaluated land.

 

Tender and Iancu were accused of illegally taking over control of Carom Onesti company which they prejudiced by 1,400 billion old lei, at the level of 2003. Before 1990, Carom was part of Onesti Petrochemical Platform. The two businessmen drained Carom resources by means of a complex financial circuit. Cicilia Dumitrescu, Marin badea, Toader Gaurean and Bogdan Salajan were also part of the same case.

 

Marian Iancu is in jail since October 14, when he sentenced to 12 years of jail for fiscal evasion and money laundering the in RAFO case. The trial lasted 8 years.
