CSAT approved the activity of the 2017 Operative Council on Cyber Security

The Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) gathered in a meeting on Tuesday found that the Ministry of National Defence (MApN), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE), the Protection and Guard Service (SPP) and the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) have all carried out their activity as per the missions and institutional goals assumed, against the background of the multiple domestic and international events that marked the year 2017, the Presidential Administration informed.

According to a release, CSAT looked at and approved the activity of the 2017 Operative Council on Cyber Security and its priorities for 2018. "For the year 2018, the priorities of the Operative Council envisage ensuring interinstitutional cooperation within the National Cyber Security System, promoting and strengthening the measures taken by the institutions with relevant responsibilities and intensifying cooperation with the international partners, the release said.

The CSAT also reviewed and approved on Tuesday the 2017 activity of the CERT-RO National Computer Security Incident Response Team and its 2018 Activity Plan. "Over the past year, CERT-RO's activity has followed the guidelines of developing national capabilities in the field of cyber-security, stimulating public-private partnership and national and international cooperation, and updating the regulatory framework in the field," the release said.

At the end of the meeting, the members of the Council reviewed and approved the CSAT Report on the activity carried out in 2017.

CSAT also decided to put at the disposal of the inquiry Committee with the Chamber of Deputies and Senate on the suppression of the Anti-corruption and Protection General Directorate (DGPA) the documents in the CSAT's archive in connection with this institution, a release by the Presidential Administration reads.

The agenda of Tuesday's CSAT meeting included the request of the parliamentary inquiry Committee's chairman that matters relating to the dissolution of the said DGPA be clarified. "The Council's members decided to make available to the Committee all of the documents in the CSAT archive related to this institution," the release says.
