Foreign Ministry: Nagorno-Karabakh 'presidential election' illegitimate
Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry considers that the self-styled 'presidential election' held on Thursday in the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh is illegitimate.
'Reiterating the principled stance it has steadily affirmed, of not acknowledging the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is confident that this election will not prejudice in any way the identification of a peaceful and negotiated solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,' reads a Ministry release to Agerpres.
At the same time, Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its support for the work of the OSCE Minsk Group and its co-chairmen, as well as for their efforts to facilitate the settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, and encourages the parties involved to intensify efforts to identify a negotiated solution to the conflict.
