Victor Ponta: Minister of Economy prepared strategies to support Alro and Oltchim

The Ministry of Economy and its components prepared the necessary strategies to support Alro and Oltchim companies so that jobs should be preserved in Slatina, Ramnicu Valcea and Pitesti, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Thursday at Victoria Palace.

'I had two meetings with those at Alro and Oltchim together with Minister of Economy Daniel Chitoiu upon coming back from the opening of the motorway stretches. There are economic issues in both places generated by liberalization and the new energy legislation in Alro's case and historic issues at Oltchim which are going to be finalized by privatization. In both cases, the Ministry of Economy and its components prepared strategies to help them. The most important thing as far as I am concerned is to guarantee governmental support, within the limits imposed by the European Commission and the market, within the limits imposed by the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission. The most important thing is to save the jobs at Slatina, Ramnicu Valcea and Pitesti,' said Victor Ponta.

The Head of Government added that the process of privatization at Oltchim Ramnicu Valcea means the conversion of debt and using the means to help the company to run until privatization.

'We are talking about the integration in the open energy market in the case of Alro. At Oltchim, we have a privatization process which includes the debt conversion, using all legal means of support for the company to run until privatization, and then to enter a normal economic cycle,' Ponta said.
