Analysis: the survivors of the Romanian business 14,000 investors have been doing business in Romania since 1990

Almost 14,300 of the companies set up immediately after 1989 still operate at present in the Romanian economy, among which Electrolux, Doosan IMGB, Celhart Donaris and Severnav, according to an analysis of KeysFin.

‘The statistics data at the Trade Registrar show that, at present, they are active and do business 14,283 companies set up between 1990 – 1991. Among these, there names quite known such as Electrolux România SA, DOOSAN IMGB, Aeroteh SA, Proiect Bucure?ti SRL, Mobila SA, Celhart Donaris SA, Pipera SA, Unisem SA, Napoca SA, Astral SA, Severnav SA and Victoria SA’ a press release of Keys Fin says.

Most of the companies are from Bucuresti-Ilfov – 2,401 who have hired during the period over 89,000 employees.

At the top of survivors in the Romanian business, depending on the geographical region there are the companies in the North-East,where 2,184 companies managed to do business with the help of 45,000 employees and those in the centre, where there are 2,145 companies with 47,000 employees.

At the other end there are, paradoxically, the western side, a vector of economic development of Romania but where there have not survived during this period more than 1,484 companies, with 24,000 employees. The analysis of the statistics data shows another paradoxical thing. The large majority of the companies which have survived the 26 years of market economy are microenterprises (10,760), followed the small entreprises (2,493), medium entreprises (778) and only 252 big companies’ the press release says.

Almost38% of the Romanian business pioneers do business in commerce

‘Taking into consideration the data regarding the business dimension, the conclusion is that when we discuss about survivors after 1990, we are talking firstly about small businesses, boutiques, neighbourhood shops which have had a faithful volume of clients and who turned over money and goods very quickly, so they were not influenced by the financial blockage, by the foreign currency challenge, etc ‘ stated the analysts from KeysFin.

Among the domains where business survived the economic roller-coaster after ’89 is the manufacturing industry, constructions and real estate.
