ForMin Corlatean makes the case for Romania's investment opportunities at meeting with U.S. Companies

Romania's business and investment opportunities were presented on Monday by Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean in a meeting with representatives of the U.S. business community organized on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, Titus Corlatean met with representatives of companies that are members of the American-Romanian Business Council (AMRO) and with representatives of the Board of the Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce. He highlighted the Government's goals regarding the strengthening of financial stability and the development of the investment climate, but also the priority attached to securing a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund, as well as the development of infrastructure and the diversification of access to new energy sources.

Titus Corlatean invited the AMRO management to participate in the activity of the Working Group on trade and economy of the bilateral Task Force on the implementation of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between the United States of America and Romania.

The AMRO representatives stressed the importance of sending a new American business mission to Romania in November 2013. It was also emphasized that the rising number of companies that join AMRO reflects the interest of American companies running large-scale business in developing investments in Romania.

From the perspective of strengthening the transatlantic relationship, the Foreign Minister voiced support for carrying out and finalizing negotiations between the EU and the U.S. for the signing of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

At the same time, the Romanian head diplomat emphasized the importance of U.S. companies backing Romania's access to the Visa Waiver Program and encouraged further steps in promoting the necessary changes in the U.S. legislation.
