Holcim invests 25 mln euros in cement factory in Campulung Muscel
The construction materials producer, Holcim, invested over 25 million euros to increase the production capacity of the cement factory in Campulung Muscel.
According to a press release of the company sent on Friday, the investment comes 15 years after the implementation of another major project to renovate the factory, worth over 100 million euros.
The purpose of the investment in Campulung Muscel is to address the existing need for cement on the construction market in Romania, but also to strengthen Holcim's efforts to have sustainable operations, by streamlining the logistics process and reducing the volume of CO2 emissions from long-distance transport of construction materials.
"Campulung cement factory directly supports, through its employees, more than 200 families from this area and, indirectly, another 200 families through local contractors and suppliers. At the same time, it is an important nucleus for the development of the local community in the Campulung area, through social responsibility projects sustained over time. And each investment in the Campulung factory represents a source of pride and motivation for those in the towns surrounding the factory. The Campulung cement factory is among the top Holcim operations in global level in terms of the performances and technologies implemented in the Plants of Tomorrow project dedicated to automation, digitization and the development of sustainable operations", the press release informs.
Since taking over the activity in Romania, in 1997, and until the end of 2022, Holcim has invested over 900 million euros and transformed operations into more sustainable and safer ones for employees.
The Holcim Romania group of companies includes Holcim Romania (two cement factories in Campulung Muscel and Alesd, a grinding station, 28 concrete stations, four aggregate stations, two special binder stations, three cement terminals, three work points for waste pre-treatment - through Geocycle) and Somaco Grup Prefabricate.
