Ministry of Economy takes responsibilities of the Department for Foreign Investments and Public-Private Partnership
The investment-related responsibilities of the Department for Foreign Investments and Private-Public Partnership will be taken over by a section of the Ministry of Economy named Investromania that will be headed by Secretary of State Manuel Costescu, Minister of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment Costin Borc announced on Wednesday.
"Today the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment takes over the investment-related responsibilities of the Department for Foreign Investments and Public-Private Partnership, while the PPP part is assigned to the Ministry of Public Finance. Today sees the end of the saga of this department which, at a certain time, was also responsible for large infrastructure projects. Infrastructure projects have been under the authority of the Transport Ministry for some time now," said Costin Borc.
According to him, a new organizational chart of the Ministry and of the department will be presented in a new government decision due in 30 days.
The Minister added that the foreign network will also be restructured and will include economic advisers working in 33 capital cities, so as to meet the economic dimension of the Romanian diplomacy.
The Minister said that there will be 40 economic advisers in the Romanian embassies and the Department for Foreign Investments and Foreign Trade will accommodate at least an equal number of economic experts.
