Tarom launches tender for three long-haul planes

State-owned airline Tarom has launched the acquisition procedure for three long-haul airplanes, business-review.eu informs. In May, the transports minister, Razvan Cuc, announced that Tarom wants to acquire planes for flights to the US and China.

Tarom said that the tree long-haul airplanes need to have two engines, “sisterships”, to be from the current generations of airplanes with the lowest possible cost of fuel/flight and/or per seat. Each aircraft needs to have between 225-270 seats, in two or three classes.

Tarom doesn’t exclude the acquisition of second-hand planes. However, on the announcement it’s written that „it shouldn’t be older than 2012, with the lowest possible cost for maintenance and the shortest length of amortization of aircraft in technical maintenance”.

The aircrafts need to offer an autonomy of minimum 5,200 nautical miles, to have in-flight entertainment systems, Wi-fi, seats with leather cover and a resting area for staff. They also need to have a cargo room of bulk type and heating control.

The offers have to be submitted until August 31.

In May, the company leased for ten years two new aircrafts Boeing 737-800 NG.
