The head of Mercedes-Benz : Romania can be solution for a new auto works

Daimler group, one of the biggest auto builders in the world, with annual business of almost 130 billion euro has the plan to become number one in the premium sector until 2020, reason for which Mercedes-Benz must surpass the sales of BMW, leader in the sector last year, informs ZiarulFinanciar.

‘The decision regarding a new works is a very rational process where we compare all aspects connected to the level of education,the availability of the work force logistics, infrastructure, how easy is to do business in this country, the distance to the suppliers and the clients. Romania can be a solution. In Romania we have a positive experience due to the factory for gearboxes which is a very good one. And it represents an advantage for Romania the fact that we have a factory for gearboxes ‘Dieter Zetsche the chairman of the board of Daimler AG said for Ziarul Financiar.

The newest works built by Mercedes-Benz on the continent is in Hungary, works which helped the neighbouring country to surpass Romania as regards the total production of vehicles.

In Romania, the Daimler group started in 2013 an investment plan of 300 mil.euro in its gearboxes factory in Sebes, where in the spring of this year will start to produce besides the present gear boxes the new 9GTronic, produced in Germany, but for which there is demand as almost all new models can be equipped with this.
