Arrears on loans exceeding 20,000 lei rose in June
Arrears on loans exceeding 20,000 lei granted by banks to customers rose in June with 425 million lei and reached the equivalent of 31.368 billion lei compared to the previous month, according to data published by the Central Credit Register (CCR) of the National Romanian Bank (BNR, the central bank) on Wednesday.
These arrears, which are centralized by the CCR, represented in June 11.68pct out of the total amount owed to banks by the customers.
Out of the total amount of arrears, 85.8pct, namely some 27 billion lei, are outstanding credits that haven't been paid for over a year, up from 26.5 billion lei in May.
Compared to May, the number of customers with arrears decreased from 209,075 to 208,635; the figure is still higher year-on-year (from 207,186).
The number of interrogations at the CCR went up from 121,430 in May to 123,074 one month later, but also when compared to July 2014, when there were 180,168.
Similarly, in the case of individuals, arrears in loans exceeding 20,000 lei rose in June compared to May with 32 million lei, up to 6.26 billion lei, from 6.23 billion lei (6.72pct of total outstanding amount).
The number of individuals with arrears dropped in June to 178,344, from 179,005 in May, but remains higher year-on-year (from 176,640).
