BestJobs Survey: the Romanian employees are worried by the growth of the number of active cases of Covid-19

More than half (55%) of the Romanian employees state they are very worried by the growth of the number of cases of coronavirus but they consider that the state of emergency should be reinstated shows a survey made by the recruitment platform BestJobs.

Most of the interviewees (47%) consider that a new state of emergency would  destroy the economy, and another 10%  say that the situation is not as serious as such, 36% consider that more drastic measures are necessary to limit the spreading of the virus.

‘The growth of the cases of covid-19 over the last month is due to the non-observance of the rules of hygiene and social distancing, consider 58% of the employees who answered the survey and only 15% think the authorities are to blame, who did not introduce more strict regulations and did not make sure they are observed. In this context, 61% of the Romanian employees expect the number of active cases grow even more’ the survey says.

The majority of the employees say that they take measures of precaution when they go out of the house or go to closed spaces: they wear a mask (84%), wash their hands (73%) avoid crowded places (70%) and disinfect their hands anytime they get into contact with objects or surfaces outside their house (63%)and avoid to touch their nose, mouth and eyes with non-disinfected hands (58%).

55% of the interviewees to the survey BestJobs say that the employers offer them masks and disinfectants and impose their use and 39% mention the disinfection of the office spaces more frequently. At the same time, only 37% say their temperature is checked when entering the headquarters of the company, and 28% say the employer allows the access of a limited number of employees in the office, to observe the rules regarding distancing.

Similarly, the apparition of confirmed cases of covid-19 among the office co-workers is a reason of worry for only 10% of the participants to the survey Bestjobs. Almost 82% say that the company where they work had no confirmed case, and in the case of 9% there were only one or two cases until now in the company. A little over 4% speak about three-four cases and only 3% consider there were five to ten cases in the company.

The survey was made between 20-30 July 2020 on a sample of 952 internet users in Romania.
