Changes to the forestry code – promulgated by president Iohannis
President Klaus Iohannis promulgated on Monday the amendments to the Forestry code. The draft law has as objective to regulate the amendment and completion of the law no.46/2008/.
The changes aim at the possibility to organize, in the national forestry fund paths and walking trails running and bicycles and the procedure of approval for their implementation,the setting up of new principle ‘ putting to value the wood as manufacture wood’, the regulation of the possibility that through methodology approved by order of the leader of the central public authority which is responsible for forestry to establish, on pilot zones, at the level of Forestry areas experimental ways to collect trees, without using the specially marking equipment.
The minister of environment, waters and forests and co-initiator of the law, Costel Alexe said, after the adoption by the parliament of the amendments to the Forestry code that the main measures are; theft of trees will go directly under criminal investigation, the trucks which transport the illegally cut trees can be taken away; cuts to the ground will be forbidden in the natural reserves; transport agreement will be compulsory and for sawdust,biomass, tree bark and any other part of tree; wood to be traded as manufactured wood; the sums destined to the security of the surfaces of wood under 30 ha will increase by 30%, the evaluation of environment for forestry changes which overlap the protected natural areas will become compulsory, access to agricultural land will be allowed to owners and from forest roads – access of citizens in the Forest will be allowed for recreation, including bike journeys.
The draft law was initiated besides Costel Alexe by other five MPs from PSD, ALDE, PNL and USR.
