Entrepreneurs and civil society request the launch of the Programme Start-Up Nation, edition 2020

Several business associations and organizations of civil society require the ministry of Economy, energy and business environment the urgent launching of the third edition of the programme Start-Up Nation/Start tech innovation 2020 or a similar programme for start-ups which could limit the effects generated by the sanitary crisis provoked by the virus covid-19 and reduce the rate of unemployment.

According to the press release of the organizations, at present, Romania faces a crisis of work places without precedent in the last years. The number of unemployed has increased in July to for the sixth month on a row, at 484, 200 people, with 2.2% more than in June and by 33% over July 2019 reaching the highest level since 2016, according to the data INS. Similarly, during June- August there were almost 4 million applications, each month surpassing the record of the previous one before the pandemics, 1.1 million applications per month, according to eJobs. Only very few could find a workplace, available jobs being extremely few, attracting the attention of organizations.

The organizations say that, in the context where Romania faces a rate of unemployment at the highest level over the last five years (by 33% higher than last year) and is continuously growing, there is urgent need for governmental programmes with non-reimbursible financing which should stimulate creation and keeping workplaces. Effects of the lack of governmental strategies for the combat of unemployment could be disastrous for the economy, warns he.

According to the quoted source, the programme StartUp Nation started in 2017 was the most ample national programme for start-ups in the Romanian history due to which over 17,300 entrepreneurs started a business and created over 64,000 workplaces. According to the organizations, the financing of some programmes for entrepreneurs such a? Start-Up Nation/Start Tech at a moment when euro gets to a new historic maximum ( the exchange rate on Monday by BNR 4.8552 lei/euro) is the best variant for expenses for the public money, as in this way the SMEs sector is developing , the rate of unemployment decreases, and money invested in these programmes gets back to the state budget ( from taxes applied to companies) at least twice.

The activity was initiated by the following organizations: Asociatia Europeana a Tinerilor Intreprinzatori, Asociatia Conseil en Entreprise, Asociatia Consultantilor Pentru Programe Antreprenoriale, Accesarea Fondurilor Structurale ?i de Coeziune Europene, Organizatia Comunitatea pentru Monitorizarea Afacerilor, Societatea Europeana pentru Justitie, Asociatia JUNII, Organizatia Îmbunatatirea Vietii, Societatea Studentilor Unviersitatii Bucuresti, Asociatia Rubik Key.
