'Child's Pose' and 'Love Building' - top places in Romanian box office in 2013
'Child's Pose' by Calin Netzer, the film that brought Romania the first Golden Bear award for a feature film and the feature film debut of director Iuliana Rugina, 'Love Building,' were ranked on the first two places of the Romanian box office in 2013, according to the data Agerpres collected from film distributors.
'Child's Pose' ranking on the top position of the domestic box office in 2013 was no surprise, as the film with 1,248,126 lei collections and 117,809 viewers became the Romanian motion picture with the highest audience success over the past decade.
Distributed by Parada Film, 'Child's Pose' was on in the Romanian cinemas from March 8 to December 1, included. The film began the year 2013 with two trophies awarded in the International Film Festival of Berlin - the Golden Bear and the prize of FIPRESCI international federation of film critics.
'Love Building,' an independently funded project, which included a wide group of untrained actors, was ranked second in the domestic box office, with 422,602 lei collections and 26,739 viewers.
Third in the Romanian box office chart is a horror film - 'Miss Christina,' by Alexandru Maftei, with collections worth 278,459 lei and 24,888 viewers.
The fourth position was taken by a feature film also adapted from a literary text, 'I'm An Old Communist Hag,' directed by Stere Gulea, after the Dan Lungu's novel. 'I'm An Old Communist Hag' registered collections worth 204,679 lei and had 14,938 viewers.
The top 5 most successful Romanian films of 2013 is completed by 'I'm Not Famous, But I'm Aromanian,' by Toma Enache, a title with collections standing at 194,572 lei and 12,972 viewers. The film was distributed by MediaPro Distribution and was on in cinemas from October 25 until December 8.
