Ciamba in the meeting of OSCE: Romania supports to solve the crisis in Ukraine
State Secretary for Bilateral and Strategic Affairs in the Euro-Atlantic Area with Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE) George Ciamba participated on Thursday in the meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), context in which the Romanian official reiterated Romania's firm support for the efforts to solve the crisis in Ukraine.
According to a MAE release, the meeting debated the outlooks of European security, with an emphasis on the impact of Ukraine's crisis, the persistence of prolonged conflicts and violent extremism phenomenon and radicalization that leads to terrorism.
"During his speech in the plenary meeting, the Romanian official reiterated Romania's firm support for the efforts to solve the crisis in Ukraine, including the important role which OSCE took on. In this regard, George Ciamba highlighted Romania's active participation, with qualified personnel and financial resources, within OSCE's Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine," the quoted source mentions.
Moreover, according to the release, Ciamba showed that for "Romania, solving the conflict in the Republic of Moldova, still remains a major priority."
"In this context, it has been reconfirmed the support for negotiations in the '5+2' format, as the sole framework guaranteeing transparency and legitimacy to a lasting solution, based on the full observance of the Republic of Moldova's
sovereignty and territorial integrity. On this occasion, the Romanian diplomat hailed the progresses recorded at the last round of negotiations and expressed appreciation for the constructive approach of the Government of Chisinau," according to the same source.
Furthermore, MAE mentions that the Romanian official underscored the necessity that all participating states, without any exception, fully implement the commitments assumed and observed the fundamental principles that they subscribed to.
"Finally, the Romanian official assured the future Italian in-office presidency of OSCE of Romania's entire support in the efforts to strengthen the political profile of the Organisation and obtain some concrete and impact results for improving security in the OSCE space," the release mentions.
