CineMAiubit, the most important student film festival of Romania, starts today in Bucharest

The international student film festival CineMAiubit is opening its gates on December 2 until 5, at the National University of Theatre and Cinema (UNATC) of Bucharest.

The festival, which is at its 19th edition, is organized by the CineMAiubit Foundation, the UNATC "I.L.Caragiale" Bucharest, with the support of the National Cinema Centre and of the Filmmakers Union of Romania (UCIN), a release informs.

The official opening is due on Wednesday night, at 7:00 pm, in the ATELIER hall of the UNATC, following that in the following three days the public could watch shorts from all over the world.

England, Argentina, Belgium, the Czech Republic, China, Germany, Israel, Poland, Russia, Romania and other countries are among this year's participants.

The stake is the Prize for the best movie, alongside more than 20 other prizes, among which "Cristian Nemescu" Directing Award, the Jury Special Prize, the UCIN President's Award, the UNATC Rector's Prize, the Image Award, the Film Editing Award, the "Andrei (Otto) Toncu" Sound Award.

The three main sections of the festival are fiction, documentary and animation/experiment, and the audience will watch on the large screen a wide range of cinematic vision from various cultural areas.

CineMAiubit continues the tradition of the competition for the short film, too, for photograph and film poster.

The festival's international jury brings together personalities with the movie world, from both Romania and abroad.

"The composition of the Grand Jury of the festival is: Sophia Georgiadou - director of the Drama Festival of Greece, Ada Condeescu - well-known Romanian actress, Csaba Bollok - Hungarian film director, Bülent Kuçukerdogan - professor with Istanbul Kultur University, Pavel Azap - film critic, Catalin Mitulescu - director and screenwriter, Tudor Mircea - photography director," the release reads.

Under the festival's umbrella a 4th edition of the MiniMidpoint intensive screenwriting workshop will unfold, where teams of filmmaker students will work under Csaba Bollok's guidance.

The festival's special projections are dedicated: the first - to the Cineritm programme (a collaboration between the National Music University and the UNATC) and the second - to a special focus called "Looking China", displaying documentary films shot by UNATC students in China.

CineMAiubit is waiting for its guests with enthusiasm, this year as well, with various, priceless movies where the voices of the cinema of tomorrow could be seen and with the unmistakable spirit that is already defining it ever since 1996.

"CineMAiubit is the most important student film festival of Romania, with its roots back in 1996, the long of the years being the place where many of the young Romanian filmmakers have debuted and whose films conquer today the international festivals," the release adds.
