Commissionaire Adina Valean about what Romania could do with the EU funds
Romania can decide to do ‘almost anything they need’ with the billions of euro which they are going to get from the EU, said in an interview for Hotnews the European commissionaire for Transport Adina Valean, who gave as an example the construction of highways, new hospitals, schools and digitization of the administrative system and education.
Romania is going to get 19.6 billion euro, non-refundable funds, and 11.58 billion as a loan, within a framework worth 760 billin dollars for coronavirus . ‘So, we have much to do, and we have to money to do it. Let me give you some examples. Romania can decide to allocate a number of billions from the 13.5 to highways projects without financing, to new hospitals or their equipments, to education – the construction of schools, as well a? the digitization of the education system. Similarly, they can invest in the digitization of the administrative services, as well as in things which are urgent – water and sewage systems, the extension of the gas networks.

But, in order to access the funds, Romania must prepare a national plan in accordance with the country report, with concrete projects, which will have to obey the priorities of the European policies, said Adina Valean.
Romania is, as a total of the funds allocated through this plan, the sixth country in the EU afte Italy (172), Spain (140), Poland (64), France (39) and Greece (32). Germany will get 28 billin, Hungary will get 15 billion euro.
