Suciu: there will be a slight drop in prices, after which the inflation will stabilize around 2.5%
The spokesperson of the BNR Dan Suciu stated on Friday when referring to the evolution of the inflation, there will be a slight drop in prices, after which the inflation indicator will stabilize at about 2.5% for a long period of time, with relatively small variations.
‘This shows two things. On the one hand, taking into consideration the fundamental factors, there are certain pressures on the inflation indicator. Despite the fact that we are passing through a period when we expected these pressures to be more reduced, taking into consideration the distorsion on the market, both for the elements of demand and those of supply. On the other hand, we have some influences which come especially from the price of oil which draw downwards this indicator and as a consequence, simplying a little, we can bet on a period of stability. There is a great part of uncertainty on the market, both as regards the economic evolution and the impact of measures which the different states take in connection to the diminution of the tensions on the financial and economic markets. This element of uncertainty may transform the prognosis about which are talking now and may change the decisions on medium and long term the Central Bank will take’ Dan Suciu said on Digi 24.
In the meeting on Friday, the BNR board analysed and approved the report on inflation, edition May 2020, document which includes the most recent data and available information.
