Crin Antonescu: We are not interested in a government of national union
We are not interestd in the idea of a government of national union because any executive in which democrat-liberal party,PDL, would participate would meen maintaining one of the groups of interests, corruption, PDL clients , liberal (PNL) chairman Crin Antonescu declared in Targoviste on Thursday. Frunzaverde declared on Wednesday that the only viable solution for Romania was a government of national union as it would eliminate all political scandals.
Geoana: PSD's main option for possible ruling coalition is PNL
The Social Democratic Party's (PSD, in opposition) main option for a possible ruling coalition after the next elections are the Liberals (PNL), Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana said on Thursday, adding, however, the Social Democrats want one-colour governance.He argued the PSD, at present, cannot rule alone, since it has only 30 percent of Parliament's seats, but he added the party, after the next elections, wants to form the Government alone, since a one-colour rule is more efficient than a coalition.
Geoana explained, however, that should the PSD fail to get 50 percent of the votes in the next polls, its first option for a ruling coalition is the National Liberal Party (PNL, in opposition).'Our experience with the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL, a senior ruling coalition partner) made us know better', he said.Social Democratic leader Victor Ponta had said on Monday he could not see possible joint governance with the Liberals, but stressed that any common action is absolutely necessary until the elections.
