CSM: Klemm assures Romania of US support for independence of justice and fight against corruption
The US ambassador to Bucharest, Hans Klemm, assured the heads of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM) that the US support Romania in identifying and developing mechanisms backing the independence of justice, the fight against corruption and the rule of law. Marius Badea and Bogdan Gabor, the president and vice-president of CSM were visited on Thursday by the delegation of the US Embassy to Bucharest headed by Hans Klemm, according to a CSM press release.
CSM mentions that talks pointed out the good collaboration among representative institutions of the Romanian judicial system and between the Council and the other powers of the state for the continuation of legislative reforms, mainly those about the continuation of the fight against corruption.
“At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their opening to collaboration based on common interests which support the independence of the judicial system in Romania and the fight against corruption, “CSM shows.
The US Embassy delegation also included political councillor Debra Hevia.
