CVM evaluation mission-discussions about the criminal and civil codes and the amendments of the justice laws
Six meetings took place at the ministry of justice with the representatives of the European Commission in tthe Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) evaluation mission, the discussions being,mainly about the criminal and civil codes and the amendments of the justice laws.
According to a press release, posted on Wednesday on the Facebook page of the ministry of justice, in the first reunion the discussions were about recommendations 3 and 4 of the CVM report, the issues being about the criminal code and the criminal procedure code.
Similarly, the representatives of the ministry of justice discussed with those of the EC about the recommendation 1 of the CVM report, about a ‘robust and independent’ system for the nomination of high rank prosecutors.
Another meeting dealt with recommendations 3 and 6 of the CVM Report, the issues being the civil code and the civil procedure code,as well as the Strategy for the development of the judicial system 2015- 2020.
The discussions focused on recommendation 5 from the CVM report, aspects aiming at the execution of the judicial decisions and the implementation by the public administration of the decisions made by tribunals, including the implementation of a mechanism for the supply of statistics to allow monitoring in the future.
This is the second mission for evaluation in the CVM of 2018, being integrated within the general framework for evaluation corresponding to the mechanism.
The meeting at the ministry of justice was attended by the minister of justice Tudorel Toader, the state secretaries Safta and Sebastian Costea, together with a delegation of the ministry at technical level.
The delegation of the evaluation mission of the European Commission was led by the head of the unit citizens and security in the General Secretariat of the EC Julien Mousnier. The delegation also included Jeanne De Jaegher and Maria Arsene from the General Secretariat of the Commission, Ingo Weustenfeld from DG Just and Irina Stefuriuc from DG Home.
